Family Planning Services - Educational Services

Family Planning Services is more than a clinic. We provide age-appropriate educational programs on topics of health and sexuality to members of our community in group, agency, and one-on-one settings to people of all ages. We are only a phone call away.

Our Presentations

Our Goals

  • To make information on health and sexuality accessible and available to all members of our community.
  • To provide a broad perspective on health education by addressing issues such as communication skills, STD prevention, dating and relationships, and diet and exercise in addition to birth control and reproductive health.
  • To serve the community as a resource for education and information and to encourage and develop interest in issues of health and sexuality.
  • To support the medical services of the clinic with additional information and education on health-related topics.
  • To create and maintain alliances with other groups and organizations on community health issues.
  • To offer educational internships and volunteer positions for interested members of the community.

Our Resources
We operate a Resource Center which houses pamphlets, books, professional journals, teaching curricula, and videos on topics including:

  • Contraceptive Choices
  • STD's and HIV/AIDS
  • Substance Abuse
  • Women and Men's Health Concerns
  • How to communicate about healthy sexuality
  • Child Abuse
  • Pregnancy
  • Sexuality
  • And many, many more!

Pamphlets are available in limited quantities free of charge. We have limited pamphlets in Spanish available as well. All other materials are available on loan at no cost to you.

We also have Contraceptive Teaching Kits available for loan to teach people about the various methods of birth control in a hands-on non-clinical setting like your classroom or your living room. They contain various methods of birth control available at our clinic and accompanying literature on proper use and how they function in the body. The literature accompanying the Kits is available in both English and Spanish.

Our Baby Think-It-Over doll is another popular resource. It is designed to teach teens about the responsibilities of parenting. The doll is life-like; it cries when it is uncomfortable, neglected, or abused. Teens are required to hold and care for it. The doll contains a computer chip to register the quality of care it received from its temporary care-giver.
